Re: I need 1,000 women. I'm asking you to be one.

(3 minute read, but it's important)

Hi Reader,

Most of what gets published about women in business is, [WILD TO SAY,]

wait for it...

Not written by women in business.🀒

That is the reason I am writing you today, and it is the only real favor I have ever asked of my community here in this email list.

We've just launched our biggest, most important project we've ever done for women in business.

From now through October 15, we are running the Female Founder Economy Survey. It is the first-ever research study built specifically around the online female founder.

Our goal is for 1,000 women to take the survey. I am personally asking you to be one of them.

Look at what currently passes for data about us.

1) Women-founded companies took about 1% of venture funding in 2024. That number gets quoted in every panel and every headline, and it describes almost none of the women reading this email, because most of us have absolutely ZERO interest in funding and exiting. That is usually NOT the goal* so why do they constantly report that it is??

*If that is your goal, there's nothing wrong with that and you have our full support ❀️

2) Ask an AI tool to recommend a company and it names a women-owned business roughly 1 in 10 times. That is the machine increasingly deciding who gets found. Completely unacceptable.

3) The Creator Economy is a $249 billion industry and climbing toward a trillion by 2033. But most women I know will tell you their content is the least interesting thing about them and they're not interested in being labeled as 'Influencers.'

Those are the headlines. But there is so much more about YOU, about ME, about ALL OF US that needs to be documented.

Here is what I think is happening.

Some of the most successful online women founders are hiding in plain sight. They are building stable, diversified businesses on intellectual property, private relationships, and 3+ revenue streams. Their audiences are small. Their revenue is not. Their best opportunities came from a text message or a private dinner, not a reel gone viral.

We have built an entire industry's worth of advice on the wrong examples, and women are burning themselves down trying to match a number that was never real.

I cannot prove that with 20 responses. But we can prove it together with 1,000 women taking the survey.

You might not know but...

Before I was a founder, I was a researcher. I have a BA and an MA in cultural anthropology, and I spent years doing qualitative survey and ethnographic research at top universities. The work was sitting with people, asking better questions than the ones printed on the form, and finding the pattern underneath what they said out loud.

Now I'm finally bringing that skillset to my own industry.

And the number matters more than you would think.

1,000 responses is the difference between an interesting blog post and a study a journalist will cite.

It is the threshold where we can cut the data by revenue, by business model, by audience size, by caregiving load, and still have something defensible in every cut.

Under that, every finding comes with an asterisk, and the people who benefit from the current story get to keep telling it.

We are taking these findings to national business press, to stages, and to the brands and sponsors who make decisions about our industry without ever asking us. I want to walk in with a thousand women behind the number.

AND, you get something extra when you take the survey (it takes about 5-6 minutes).

βœ… You get an expanded copy of the report, The Female Founder Economy Survey, the day it publishes in January. A broader, expanded report than we will offer publicly, and...

βœ… You'l also get a guide on how to use the findings in your own business.

The survey is fully anonymous.

Your answers are not attached to your name, your business, or your email address. Everything is reported in aggregate. You will be asked what your business made and what you paid yourself, but it's entirely anonymous. After completing the survey, you can opt into the report with your name and email separately, so they're never connected.

Take the survey.

It closes October 15.

I know asking you to take the time to do this is a big ask.

There is no launch behind it. There is nothing to buy at the end.

But I do think this is the most important thing we have ever built. And I hope you will share your voice because it matters more right now than it ever has.

P.S. If you do one thing with this email, take the survey. If you do two, forward it. The bigger the sample, the harder the findings are to argue with. thepowertable.co/survey

Power Table LIVE had just ended. For two days I had been in a room with hundreds of women who run real businesses. I heard how they actually make their money, who they call when they need a yes, and what it costs them to keep going. The room was loud, specific, and completely honest. Then I opened...

Hey Reader,Happy September! Quick test. If I asked you to send me your core message, your three best stories, and your speaking topics in the next ten minutes so I could consider you as a speaker for Power Table LIVE, could you do it? Most founders couldn't. You have the ideas. They just live in fourteen different places. The notes app. A half-finished Google Doc. An old caption that actually hit. A voice memo from March you never listened to again. So every post, every pitch, every talk...
